Our Living room is a constant work in progress. My husband and I made the mistake of purchasing our living room furniture prior to moving into our home a few years back. Don’t get me wrong, we love our oversized, chesterfield style sofas but they are entirely too big for the awkward layout. Because of this, I’ve had my poor hubby move the living room furniture and TV around more times than I can count! (He must really love me.)
Anyway, the latest layout has our main sofa on the largest wall of the living room with a sofa table behind it for added storage. The TV was moved and mounted on the wall directly across from the largest sofa and the love seat stayed put under the center window. Long story short, basically we just flip-flopped the sofa and the TV. This layout seems to work much better than any other plan and I think it’s more aesthetically pleasing.
I wanted to add a few pops of color for spring so I found some beautiful hand-made Kantha pillows at a local Indian Boutique called The Roots and I replaced my thick winter blankets for some light Kantha throws that I found for a deal at Tuesday Morning. The blue fabric art behind the sofa was custom-made by my friend, Lauren, with Le Lo Boho. It reminds me of the ocean and is one of my absolute favorite pieces! (I was given the product from Le Lo Boho but was not otherwise compensated. However, all opinions are my own.)
Our fireplace surround was dark black slate and it made that corner of the room look like a dark hole in the wall. It took me forever to grow the balls to paint it out, but I finally did. Slate-schmate… it’s all white now and it makes such a huge difference in the room. I wish I had done it sooner!
The other side of the room is basically a long, open hallway from one side of the house to the other. I try to keep it open but styled enough to add interest and balance. The tapestry hanging in the hallway opening is a huge favorite on Instagram. I found the Tapestry on Etsy and hung it from a curtain rod using clip rings from Wal-Mart. It’s a cheap and easy way to add personality to an otherwise ordinary space. At the moment, my favorite thing in the room is that little gallery wall under the stairs. This month my husband and I will celebrate 4 years of marriage so I decided to surprise him by framing some of his favorite photos of our honey moon in Hawaii! The framing was provided by my friends at Frame It Easy and everything turned out absolutely beautiful! I would highly recommend them if you’re looking for fast, easy and affordable custom framing. You can even use my discount code “PBAH” for 10% off! (I was given the product from Frame It Easy and also compensated for sharing however, all opinions are my own.)
One of my favorite ways to spruce up any space is by using candles. Specifically, FlashPoint candles! They specialize in gorgeous luxury candles that are poured into hand-made pottery. Once the candle is done burning, you can scoop out the wax and continue to enjoy the gorgeous pottery for years to come. Use my code “PREPPYBOHO15” for 15% off your entire purchase plus free shipping! (I was given the product from FlashPoint Candle for this post but was not otherwise compensated. I have also used an affiliate link for this item; if you use this link to purchase items, I make a small commission. All opinions are my own.)
And there you have it! Do you spruce up your own home décor for spring? I would love to hear your ideas!
